Abstract

My views on the issue of Chinese Language Research and Teaching are based on three premises: (1) Modern Chinese language evolves from ancient Chinese language, and yet this fact has not been given its due attention in research studies, (2) The rapid development of China since its opening and reform has triggered the integration of Chinese languages in different countries and regions, (3) With the robust development of the Chinese economy and society, more and more people are eager to learn Chinese. Given these premises, it is of important significance to explore how the research and teaching of Chinese should be adjusted.
