Validity and Language Planning Optimization of General Aptitude Putonghua Shuiping Kaoshi (GAPSK) for Primary and Secondary Schools in Hong Kong: A Study of Nominal Classifier Test Items

The General Aptitude Putonghua Shuiping Kaoshi(GAPSK) for primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong is a critical national language strategy, aimed at fostering national identity and supporting the broader national security agenda. This study focuses on the nominal classifier section of the test, examining its effectiveness as well as deficiency from the perspectives of test validity and language planning. It proposes improvements to enhance the scientific rigor and practicality of the Putonghua education and testing system. Ultimately, the research aims to contribute to the linguistic integration of the Greater Bay Area, improve the quality of language services in Hong Kong, and enhance multilingual competencies in the education sector.
