Abstract

The impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on education—particularly language education—has become increasingly significant. Language teachers play a key role in realizing and promoting the integration of this technology into teaching. However, there is currently a lack of research focused on this group. The study adopts a qualitative research approach and uses purposeful sampling to conduct interviews with seven Chinese language teachers from different Confucius Institutes across the U.K. Centered on themes such as teachers’ development, teaching practices, and the promotion of innovation, it presents the perceptions and experiences of the interviewees regarding the integration of AI into international Chinese language teaching. The study further analyzes the influencing factors and, in view of the new context of international Chinese education under the Belt and Road Initiative, discusses ways of professional training and development for teachers of the Confucius Institutes in the future.
